The World gone mad and i can not do anything about it

Hello, it has been a long time since I done a blog post.  A lot happen in the past year with me but I am not going into that to be honest.

Anyway I want to ask a quick question, has the world gone mad?

Before I start I got nothing against the woman in question but seriously why has the world gone mad for her?

Susan Boyle

I mean the world went nuts when she was on Britain Got Talent.  The US picked up on it and Cowell was rubbing his hands with a huge smile on his face.  Everything was setup to show this poor scot lassie.  So when she open her mouth the audience would be shock but come on it style of VT before the audition has been going on since Popstars.

But anyway that was the past and we moved on and then she released an album and it breaks records here and over the pond.  Also she get her own ITV special and so on.

But wait a minute; Susan Boyle in reality is just a cut price Elaine Paige.  I do not like that sort of music in the first place.  But if Elaine Paige did the same album as Boyle would it break records.  Not a chance in hell.

But people are going to say people brought it because of her story and so on.  OK but i hope they know it  a very clever marketing tool,  Cowell knew about her voice before she step on that stage and create a monster which can not be stopped.

Stuff like the X-Factor and Britain Got Talent are entertainment I know how they work and how money made out of them. But it got to stop.  Look at Jeward for crying out loud.  Every other day they are in the paper from being rubbish.  Some days I wish I could just stay in bed because I worried about the world and where was are going as a species.

If you look at it, Most of the music talent which comes from these shows are cut price versions.  Boyle = Paige,  Lewis = Houston, Burke = Beyonce.

If you like that sort of music by the stuff by the proper version, not the low rent version because of the great tale behind it.

Review: Star Wars The Clone Wars

I am going to start by saying i just seen the new animated star wars movie (OK, it a 90 minutes pilot but shown on the big screen because it Star Wars) and this review might have bad spelling and grammer because i am writing it straight into the wordpress website using the dashboard.  So here it goes.

I am so angry and pissed off with this movie.  It the worst star wars movie in the series of movies and it one of the worst film i seen in the cinema.  Also i would like to point out something about i start the review to be honest.  Massawyrm from aintitcool news wrote a very good review of the movie and wrote a part about the different between Kids Movies and Children Movies.  I will put the link for this review at the bottom of the review.

He talks about the different between them, a children movie is mean to entertain both the child or children and the adult who took them to the movie and a kid movie is just made to keep the child amused for 80 or 90 minutes and does not give a crap about the adult.  Massawyrm goes into more detail about this idea (so read that after this) but it seem someone at the Lucasfilm did not think about the idea about the difference and made a film for the invisable really dumb 6 year old child and made a pilot for a star wars animated for them.

There are many problems with this film.  One of them is that the film is set inbetween Episode Two and Three so you know Anakin, Obi-Wan and Dooku are going to be in danger but will get through it because they are in the Episode Three, So a fight between Anakin and Dooku look good but it pointless because we knew what happen in the next film.  So the element of danger is missing to the film and make it pointless to be honest.

The animation feel sometimes dull, flat and lifeless and it shows in some of the battle scenes and in space and huge battles between big ships and starfighters it look very flat, dull and uninteresting and it make me very bored.  The script is one of the worst thing i have listen too in years (it even dump for that 6 year audience they are going for).  The exchange between characters feel forced and that lead to the voice acting, it some of the worst voice acting i have ever hear in a movie, Obi-Wan sound like a weird mix between 007 Roger Moore and a drunk scot man and Anakin has got a bit more life in this movie but is still wooden and that idea of voice acting is through out the whole movie.

Two scenes are good in this film i give it that, a Battle up a mountain and a duel between Obi-Wan and  Asajj Ventress are good but to be honest they should be in a video game instead of a movie and two scenes are not good enough for a star wars movie.

The main problem with the movie is the new character which does not appear in the third film and not in the mythnology of Star Wars.  She been created to give kids something to root for in the future program, someone who learning to be a jedi, a girl who hip and witty and can mix it with Anakin and Obi-Wan.  Her name is Ahsokea Tona and she is just annoying to be honest, she made we want to punch someone to be honest.  she seem to be in every scene as well in the movie and is just a pain in the arse to watch.  The rapport between her and Anakin is just hard to watch to be honest.  It seem some forced and lay on with a big spoon to be honest.  Also she mean to be witty and funny, she keep on calling Anakin “skyguy”.  Come on Skyguy what the hell is that.

Skywalker is seen as the strong jedi among all them and is going to be Darth Vader, the baddest man in the galaxy but she calls him “Skyguy” which i bet the writers thought would be funny and the kids would love that.  This is as bad when he got called Annie in Episode One.

The story is pointless as well, it about a double crossed and Jabba the hutt and his son being kidnapped and how Dooku will uses this to his advance during the clone wars.  I will like to say a few words about the movie plot.

“I DO NOT FUCKING CARE”

I do not care about Jabba the hutt because i know nothing going to him because he in the rest of the movies and that the problem with this movie as i said before, no one in real danger because we know what happen to them in future films.

Anyway i got to finish this review because i am still angry i saw it this morning and i am still pissed off.  It seem Lucasfilms create a kids movie and that the problem.  This could have been a good CG film for the whole family because people who love Star Wars in general are over the age of 25 and might have kids and this would have be a good way to introduce them to the Star Wars Universe but it a pointless addition to the brand.  Lucasfilms create a pure kid movie and that a bad thing because it should have create a film which works across the audience spectrum and entertain them but i was bored off my arse and pissed off with a badly written and computer drawn film.

Hellboy 2: The Golden Army

Well, here is the review of Hellboy 2.  It been out in the states for a bit but it just going to be release in the UK on the 20th of August but i saw it at a outside screening a few weeks ago.  Anyway it directed by Guillermo del Toro (Director of Cronos, The first Hellboy Movie and Pan’s Labyrinth which won critic praise and was showered awards). 

Because of Pan’s Labyrinth Del Toro seemed to have more backing from teh studio to create the vision for Hellboy in this movie.  I like the first movie but it seem Del Toro hands were been held back a bit with the original studio (Now the Hellboy Rights are Universal).  The creator Mike Mignola was credited for the first movie but he was not really connected with the script but Hellboy 2 Mike worked with Del Toro to created the screenplay and it shows

This movie is a romp from start to finish, the audience go through a journey to the dark corners of the fantasy world.  Del Toro visions is going to the moon in this movie.  Creating markets for monsters, New Characters and the golden army itself.  I do not like tellign the plot in the movie when i review because i do not really want to spoil it and so on but i will give a short outline,  We pick up from the first movie and Hellboy and Liz are a couple but goign through a bad patch, Myers has been resign to a new department.

At the same time, a prince from the elvish race want to take the earth back from the human race by controling the Golden Army by get all the piece to a golden crown broken by the elvish king in the past during the ceasefire of Elvish race and human race war.

And so the adventure begin for Hellboy and the gang.

Anyway that the plot to be honest,  Abe Sapien is back in the film and how uses Doug Jones voice (he the guy in teh suit in the first place) and it work well and a new character Johann Krauss (Voiced by Seth MacFarlane) is introduced as Hellboy new boss.

Anyway i really enjoy Hellboy 2, i mean The Dark Knight rocks (See IMAX Style in September, It been sold out like a git in London) But Hellboy 2 is a great fun romp.  A real summer movie, The scene with Krauss and Hellboy having a fight is just funny as hell, i was laughing out loud and Hellboy and Abe in one scene togetther is just so good you got to see it for yourself because i do not want to spoil it. 

Anyway Del Toro made a great summer movie, i saw it sitting on the ground outside watching movie on a summer evening and forgot about the position i was in.  Because i was enjoying the ride. 

Anyway there are some things wrong with the movie, some of the performernces in the movie did not feel right like the princess twin of Luke Goss character feel a bit forced to be honest and some guys you play FBI agents but they are extras to be honest.

But Luke Goss, Ron Perlman and Doug Jones are great in this movie, it weird with Mr Goss, he not great when he playing a normal guy but put make up on him and turn him into a monster or elf he great and Ron Perlman is great as Hellboy he just look the part and sound the part as well and it seem a shame that this might be the last Hellboy Film with Perlman because Del Toro is off to do The Hobbit for a few years and Doug Jones is great as Abe because using his voice now the character feel a bit more real.

Well Anyway to finish  Hellboy 2 is a great fun romp, it not the greatest film made but it very enjoyment and you will walk out happy from the cinema.  Put it this way i will see it again in a cinema in a comfortable seat (ok semi Comfortable).

Meebox, BBC Three

Hello, i know it not the review of Hellboy 2 (i might do it later today but i might do it as a audio review, i will see what happen).  OK this might be old news but only found out about it the other day.  Adam Buxton (From Adam and Joe Show, 6 music Radio Show, Time Trumpet and other shows) who i think is a great comedy writer and creator as well.  Just check out this clip and see what i mean.

Also he has a Blog with video clips and news, just type him into google and you will find the blog, anyway, he created a pilot for BBC Three called Meebox and it was floating in the air for a bit and then it got shown at a stupid hour on BBC Three and i missed it completly (thank god for youtube because i found it there, just type Meebox into Youtube and you will find it in three parts). 

So the show is taking the mick partly out of the list shows,talking head shows, Celebrity and the youtube generation and it very hit and miss to be honest but it works as a comedy, it trying something new and that what comedy need at the moment, i am getting pissed off with crap sitcom and shows like Kathy Brand and Tittybang bang and Meebox look like it could be a good series and show BBC Three to be producing some bright new comedy but the BBC folks at Three and not pick up the show because it did not fix into the target audience and they got no money for it as well (but they got Money for the 200 series it seem of Two pints and tittybang bang)

Jesus Christ – I still think i could write a show for BBC Three.  I hope Channel Four watch the pilot and pick it up, i doubt it but it a wish.  Read Adam Blog to get the full story to be honest

Review: Robocop and my rant about remakes

OK, this is not the Hellboy 2 review, it will be coming soon in the next couple of days.  I just wanted to talk about Robocop to be honest and give my opinion about the reboot or new movie dependingon what interview from the studio.  Anyway Robocop there is not much to say about this film.  I was too young to see it in the cinema but i caught it on Video when i was a teenager and love it and took it to my heart. 

I can watch it over and over again, saw it the other week and still love it.  I am not going to give a detail plot run down to be honest because you should know the film and if you not seen it, go to the video store and pick it up and sit down, turn the phone off and just watch and enjoy.

Why i love this film so much is because it over the top, well design, well shot and written and witty and Satirical about America political and the way of life. 

Paul Verhoeven the director and Edward Neumeier and Michael Miner the writer created a future world where companies take over the way police forces are run and also in the newsroom scenes the way wars would be run by private companies given the thumbs up by the government (Future echoesof the Iraq War).  The styles of the television adverts and newsrooms are so witty and a great mirror to the America public is great.

Anyway the action is great and the film maker does not hold back with blood and gory in the movie which is still pretty hardcore now days and we live in the world of SAW 15 or something. 

But anyway Robocop is great, it hard to review films you love because you just think of the great things about it.  Robocop was great but the other sequels and television show sucked to be honest but i think Robocop was never meant to be a brand and PV wanted to revisit the character in the future at some point.

But now MGM want to bring back Robocop to a new audience with Darren Aronofsky  as the director and the plot which is going around the internet is that the Robocop Program is reboot 20 years after the first film in LA.  So it seem like a Reboot like in the vein of Batman Begin.

Maybe this film is going good but PV wanted to do a idea of Robocop back in the early 90’s and he want to show a future world 100 years after the first movie and Robocop was in a Museum as a piece and is reboot.  I wish MGM went to his to reboot Robo because he did it in the first place and know the world of Robocop. 

I got nothing against Darren Aronofsky, i like Pi and Requiem but i hate The Fountain (it was pretty but it went no where and damn it was self righteous bullshit to be honest).  He might do a good work.

I got nothing against remakes, some of my fav films are remakes, The Thing, The Fly and so on, Dawn of the dead remake is good as well.  But it feel at the moment hollywood is just remaking stuff because it marketable (look at Prom Night, Halloween and so on).  Some of the new remakes are rubbish (again look at Prom Night and Halloween).  Why not clean up the original film and put it back on the big screen and market that.

I know that sound mad but give it a shot and see what happen.  It just feel the films i loved as a teenager are getting drag through shit.  Most horror remake so some reason give characters back story (i do not care, if poor Michael Mum was a stripper, so he went mad).  Remakes can happen and the Ocean Films apart from the second one, prove you can make a good series out of a old movie but rebooting ideas like Robocop might not be a great idea, i do not think it going to have the same wit and comedy timing as the first one which make it a great movie in the first place and i bet you any money it going to be PG-13.

Anyway thanks for reading and just rent out Robocop if you not see it, it great trust me.

THE DARK KNIGHT AGAIN

So, it be a couple of weeks since my last review (Hellboy 2 Review to come soon).  Anyway back to The Dark Knight.  It been a few weeks since it came out and jesus it already the number 8 movie in the all time US box office.  The Batman is kicking ass and taking names.  I hope and pray it take over Titanic but i do not think it going to happen (which is the shame).  Anyway the last review, i just really went fanboy and say everything is great (which most of it is).  So i am back to follow up my last review of the film.

But first i want to clear something up, some things on the internet has shot down Maggie Gyllenhaal in her role and she was miscast and so on.  Come on, Maggie Gyllenhaal is better than Katie Holmes.  Maggie is a actress which divide many people i like her and think she was a good choice to take over the role from Holmes and i think she added something to Rachel Dawes.

Also the film is not too long as well, lot of people have been writing this in other reviews but again really, i rather have a long interesting film i want to see over and over again in the cinema instead of Meet Dave or some other crap.

The other reasons i love this god damn film is that i am going to see it again in the Cinema or Imax like i say in the last review.  Not many movies do that, i got asked the other day what is the best film i saw in the cinema (not the best written film or anything like that but the best film i saw and thought Jesus Christ i got to see this again) i told the group i was with at the time it was Lord of the rings “fellowship of the Ring”.  It not a film i can watch over and over again but i walked out of the cinema after that film and thought fuck me that was great. 

The group looked at me but i told them i missed out on Star Wars because i was too young too see it in the cinema until the Special Editions in the 90’s and other films in that style of the blockbusters of the 80’s but Lord of the Rings was a experience in the cinema i wanted again and to be honest it has not happen for a long time (some films came close) but The Dark Knight is one of the best films i seen in the cinema fact.

Look i am going to tell you what i thought was wrong with it shortly but i want to go into more details about why i love this film.

The Joker is a great character and has many different origins depending on what comics you read at the time.  One reason i love this film is because of all the different origins of the Joker, the film did not use one, it did not give you a back story about him at all, he was just a mad psychotic character who love chaos and destruction and when he tell stories about himself it changes everyday and no DNA systems can pin him down and the police and Batman are screwed because when you do not know anything about someone how do you trap them?

Many movies (mostly horror movies to be honest) give the bad psychotic character a back story so the person can see why they become the killing machine in the present and that suck to be honest.  I do not want to know how Micheal Myers become a killer but Rob Zombie told a back story in the remake of Halloween and who wanted that no one.  The Dark Knight avoided this because The Joker has been done in so many ways in comics, Television and Movies and The Nolan’s avoided the wrath of Fan-boys by not creating a back story for him and that why it make the character better.

OK, here are the problem i got with the movie.  The Action is a lot better than Batman Begin but they are still problems with some shots but hey the stuff in Hong Kong are great and many action scenes are good but some times is goes into close up again like Batman Begin and you can not tell what the hell is going on.

That it really to be honest, i know that rubbish but i can not think of many things i dislike about it.  Some scenes could have been cut down but hey i want to see this film again on the big screen.  It did not drag at all to me and it was well acted and brilliantly filmed.  Sorry if i went over some points but hey i love this film.  Roll on the Blu Ray

THE DARK KNIGHT

I know every man, woman and dog has written a review of The Dark Knight because it has been out in the US for a week but as Brits only got it last night. So as the Joker would say “Here we go”.

So yeah, The Dark Knight is ………… Pretty F”£king Awesome. I mean I love the Tim Burton Version of Batman, Joel can suck a big one for this efforts but Chris Nolan has save the summer for me with this movie. After the good but not great Indy film and Iron Man being good but I know the sequel going to be good and other films like The Hulk and Hancock just been ok.

I remember a review years ago for Blade Two and Aintitcool calling the movie a blow job of a film. The Dark Knight and I am sorry if people under 16 read this review, Is the full blown monkey dance with Dita Von Tesse (If you do not find her hot there is something wrong with you) of a movie.

I am not going to write anything about the plot because you just have to see the film. Most people know the bad guy is the Joker and Harvey Dent in the movie and so on.

Anyway why is The Dark Knight so good because it a crime film not a superhero movie. I will just to explain myself. The idea of Batman was he was a detective in some respects but it the movies by Burton he did a little bit but most of the time he waited until the moment he can just fight them to be honest.

In Nolan version Batman follow a case and build it up to bring the person to justice and if he has to hunt them down he will. He want to criminal world to do it time. Nolan uses the idea of Batman as a detective so he can create a crime thriller.

It hard to review this film in words to be honest because I do not want to spoil anything about the plot to be honest.

So I will talk about the actors and the performances they gave in this film.

Christian Bale is great in this movie, I like how Nolan play up the idea of the rich playboy when Wayne is out with the public but privately with Alfred he jokes and tell him how he feels. As Batman is great as well, He just fit the part, He knows how to work all the sides to the Wayne/Batman Character.

Sir Michael Caine is great as Alfred, He also play the part to great affect. Alfred is funny, insightful and a good listener. It show Alfred to be a father figure to Bruce, he might be the hired help but he is much more to Bruce and The Batman.

At this point you guessing I am going to say everyone is great and they are. It seem Film Makers have got it right with casting people in Comic Books films, they just do not have to look good but they got to act the part as well.

Maggie Gyllenhaal (My future wife I hope lol) is a good replacement for Mrs Cruise. I felt in Batman Begins I could not believe Katie Holmes to be a lawyer or in fact a assistant D.A because it was Katie Holmes from Dawson Creek. I know that sound cruel but it how I felt at the time. Ms Gyllenhaal look the part as a lawyer and love interest to both Wayne and Dent. She feel to bring more emotion to the role than Mrs Cruise.

Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent (Later Two Face) is one of the best thing in the movie to be honest. He going to be over shadow by Heath and that understandable but I can not take everything away from his performance. Dent is a the bright light of Gotham and Batman see this and believe him to be the true hero of Gotham. Eckhart give the character warm and make you believe that he want to change the City for the better, he got some issues with Gordon. When he become Two Face, Eckhart gives a stunning performace in my opition, it dark and edge and angry and switch personally with great effect. Eckhart is great (that all I can say because again you just got to see the film)

Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox is a good as well, He is Batman Q to be honest, creating new suits and weapons and gadgets, Freeman play him straight down the line. A friend to Bruce who can make a good joke but at the same time warns Bruce about getting too much power.

Gary Oldman as Gordon is soild as per usual, (I love Gary Oldman, he been in some of favourite films like Leon) Gordon is the moral point of the film to be honest, he a good cop who trust Batman to the end of the world and know he the hero of Gotham if no one wants to know. Gordon in a weird way is the sane member of the good guys. Dent will stop at nothing to get the job done as the D.A and Batman is on the same page but uses different methods to get the job done. Gordon has a family and a life he wants to protect so he go along with plans but remember he has people who love him and he does not want them to get hurt.

Anyway Here the big one

Heath Ledger as The Joker. What can I say about him, Ledger is the best actor in the film and I am going to say this better than Jack in the Burton version and the best performance ever of a comic book character to the point where I forgot The Joker was a comic book character and just thought of him as a psycho in the same respects as Alex in Clockwork Orange or Patrick Bateman in America Psycho. The Joker is a anti-hero and I know that sound strange because he a bad guy but The Joker is so twisted and got balls of steel (Just watch the meeting scene in the movie and you see why). Joker want to cause chaos and mayhem and take over the city and is always one step ahead it seem. He the polar opposite to Batman. Put it this way, It not hype because Ledger die at the start of the year.

He is the best actor in the movie and the best actor as a comic book character. Him and Eckhart create two characters which just adds a whole new dimension to the Batman series of movies.

Anyway, just see the film, it great, I am going to see it on IMAX at some moment in London. Nolan, Nolan, Goyer, Bale, Ledger and everyone else who make or starred in this movie has make a great movie because this is not just a superhero movie. It a great crime thriller and character study which happen to have Heroes and villains in it from the DC universe.

Please take note writers of the next Superman movie.

Review: All the Boys love Mandy Lane

Good Day, Other day, Other review, I have not ranted for a bit but it will come just wait and it will come out of the darkness just a ninja looking for it next kill of revenge.  Anyway back to the review.  ATBLML which I am going to call it for this review because I can not be arsed to write the full title everytime.  Start with a great shot of Mandy walking down the corridor of high school with the boys and girls checking her out.  Anyway Mandy and her best friend Emmet get invited to a party by the High School Jock to be honest and it a pool party, Anyway the party is in full swing, Emmet and the Jock argue but later on the roof Emmet dare him to jump into the pool from the roof, Emmet chicken out but the jock jump for Mandy but dies in the accident.  9 months later we see Mandy running on the track and Emmet try to catch up with her.  Emmet is blown off my Mandy and her new friend Chloe.

Anyway at the same time, A stoner has sort out a weekend at this ranch for some people and invited Mandy to it as well.  We find out that will come and give permission from my aunt that night.  Mandy go on the trip with her mixed bunch of friends for a weekend.  Mandy is clean cut and when the other drink and smoke and do drugs.  Mandy stay clear of them.  We also meet the Ranch hand Garth who most of the girls take a shine too.  Anyway during the night every one of friends disappears and the ones left in the house get worried.  I am going to leave the plot rundown here because I do not want to spoil the film but give you a flavour of the movie.

Anyway to the review.  I am in two minds about the film to be honest.  All the Boys is a horror film in the old sense of the word.  Killer out side the door, preying on a bunch of kids and so on and for that I respect it at least it not Saw Fifteen or something like that or a remake of a old horror movie I like as a kid (Zombie I am look at you).  But some things did not really flow for me.  I did not really understand why Mandy was friends with some of the group or why some of the group was friends with each other.  I know it not going for the stereotype group as some movies would do but it did not really give you a story of what happen in the 9 months after the event of the pool party.  I am not asking for a lot of back story just now Mandy knows some of the people.

 Other thing which seems strange was the ideas from the director.  I could not tell if he wanted me to like or dislike the friends characters because of the things they do because to be honest Mandy stay away from the drinking and drugs taking during the weekend.

I mean the old ideas for the horror movie was there which was nice (Girls running away from the killer, Protecter in the form of a range hand) and some of the scenes of horror violence when made very very well but some time, post production effect went weird and spoil the feel of the movie.

I mean this would be a dirty Grindhouse movie if it was the 70’s but some time the tone was not there and that was the shame.  Also I guess what was going on very quickly and it did spoil it a bit (you might have guess the idea and stuff like that) but I wish it was done a bit different.

Lot of people rave about this when it came out but it a good movie not great just good but at least it not Saw 5 or a remake of a great horror film from the good old day.

Review – Oh god I do not believe I am going to review this piece of crap, DAY OF THE DEAD (Not George Classic, the new version)

OK, I like zombie movies (Night of the Living Dead, Dawn, Day, Shaun of the Dead, Dawn Remake and so on), I like Zombie Games (Res Evil series, Dead Rising and so on).  George.A.Romano series from the 60 and 70 to early 80’s.  Dawn of the Dead is one of my favourite films because it take a look on the America ideas of life and twist them to the point of horror.  The idea when you are dead you go back to the places you remember like the Mall is a horrible thought.  I did like the remake of Dawn, it add some new ideas which I am not a great fan of like fast zombies (never be a fan of the fast Zombies but hey I can move with the time)

But after Dawn Remake make a lot of money and the director moved on to 300 and now the Watchmen movie.  Some producer thought it would be a good idea to make a new Day of the Dead movie.  I watch this bit of shit and I am calling it that not to shock but it a big piece of crap.  I will give you my reasons.

It not a remake they just used the name Day of the Dead (I hope George got some money).   A town in america has people coming down with flu like illness and the Army blocks off the road leading into the town.  People start dying and guess what they rise from the dead.  I can not be arsed to give names to the character because it a piece of shit. 

So anyway, Girl from America Pie is a solider who used to live in shithole town and go into town to see her mom and brother with a driver, Bloke who married to Mariah Carrie is a arsehole solider at the blockage.  Girl find mum to be ill and find out from brother and girlfriend that his friend is ill, they go to the house find dead bodies.  At the same time you find out girl does not carry a loaded gun ( what the hell, she is a soilder) and the driver is unarmed as well. 

They go to the hospital with the mum and the dead rise and attack the place, Ving Rhames who should know better get attack by zombies and the town become over run.  The brother and girlfriend hole up in a radio station with fat English playing a America actor with two character who lose they son.  Anyway plot go on and you find out what happen but by then you do not care about anything.

The film is so badly made and storyline and characters are stupid, why is a solider not carrying a loaded gun for cryout loud and one of the solider character get shock when they see a gun (carry on he a bloody solider, I could understand if he was a member of the public but he a solider here to protect).  I mean I sit through crap horror movies in my time but some of them knew that and played on the fact that it was cheap and shit and so on.  This movie does not it think it a good horror movie but it just so bad.

It not a remake so why call it Day of the Dead.  If it was a remake it would be rubbish if it was the same team who made this but at least it using the same name as the orinal film.  Dawn of the dead remake was good, I like it, and it fell like a well put together horror film with some good gags and good action.  This day of the dead film should have just be called Dead Town or something like that because why use the fucking name to get bums on seats well it did not work, it went straight to DVD.

It just very hard to talk about this Day of the Dead movie without just swearing and not really reviewing it but it just bad.  We just watched it because my mate had it at the time and thought it can not be that bad.  That was a mistake.

Also the effects are crap as well, CG blood is rubbish and does not work.  Some of the shots was just painted on it seem but it look like they try to spend money on it.  It just a mess.

If you want the teenages watch horror movies make good one please producers not Saw V and stuff like that.  Look back at the old school movies and look at why they are great and do not remake them.  Write new ideas create new monsters or characters and see if the audience like them, do not just nick a title and create a crap film around it.

I am leaving my rants against remakes for other blog review of Robocop because I got a few things to say about remaking that movie.

Review: Rocky Balboa

Other review, not sure what going on with me to be honest.  I know this film has been out for a bit but I thought I would do a review now after watching the DVD of it again the other day.

God Bless Sly.  He created Rocky and created a good bunch of movies apart from Rocky V.  Starting the film series with a low budget story of a underdog, which made the film style look dirty and real to be honest which suited the tone of the film and then creating a big budget over the top sport movies with Rocky 3 and 4.

To be honest Rocky IV is just a big pop video for 90 minutes with all the montages (which are cool but it seem like there is one every 5 minutes) and the weird end the cold war message at the end of the movie but it still a good movie because of it.  When he started to make Rocky Balboa people laugh at Sly.  Just saying he doing this because his career is in the gutter in some respects and so on.  I am doing a review now because when it came out it got mixed review and I do not think many people saw the movie for what it was.

I want to say this Rocky Balboa is a good movie, I enjoy it, Rocky is a character you got to love, he funny, caring and what to do the right thing by him and his family.

This is the final chapter of the Rocky Saga and you can tell because of the overall tone of the movie is saying goodbye to Rocky and that world.  Rocky is a widow and is running a restaurant Adrian’s and telling old boxing stories to the customers.  Old boxer Spider is eating there for free because Rocky let fighters eat for free at the place.  At the same time Rocky try to see his estranged son Robert when he can who work in a major company in Philly.

Also Rocky meet Maria who is all grown up and with a son and Rocky help them both out which Maria is suspense  about but is won over by Rocky charm to be honest.  Any way the real reason a Rocky film is made is from the fight.  The latest Champ is Dixon who fights to be honest are crap, he not crap but the heavyweight division is (I think Mr Sly is trying to tell the boxing world that big tall Eastern Europeans might be ruining that weight class but hey I am not reading into it that much, Come on David Haye bring the weight class back to the good times).  Anyway  A virtual fight is created on ESPN with Rocky and Dixon and Rocky Wins.  Rocky does not see the fight straight away but Paulie a few days later watches the fallout from it at Rocky Restaurant.

Rocky wants to fight again but local fights not the big time because the something is still in the basement.  Paulie think he mad and so does his son.  Rocky go and try to get a licence to fight and win over the panel and is back in the fight game.  Dixon Manager ask Rocky to come and have a special fight in Vegas to bring the fans back to heavyweight boxing.  Rocky is unsure but agrees and from there it a usually Rocky Film with the training montage and fight at the end.

This Rocky film work because it go back to how the first one feels. Dirty, shot in a low budget way until the fight to be honest and it a character piece.  Rocky is not down on this luck but he feel something is missing since his wife died, also at the same time the son is trying to fit in with his work but he think the Rocky name will always shadows over him.

Maria is a good character, someone who care about Rocky but knows Adrian will always by in Rocky Heart and Dixon the fighter is not a big bad character really, he just a boxer who got a bit big and wants to prove something to the world.  Dixon is different from Creed, Clubber and I will break you Drago.  He not a big character like the old movie.  He does not want to destroy Rocky or is a machine like Clubber or Drago.  He a fighter who want to show the movie he can box.

I do not want to talk about the fight really because it might spoil it if you not watched the film but it look really great and the setup to the fight is pure PPV.

Rocky Balboa is a good film.  It got all the elements of the Rocky films of the past (Funny, good Drama, Great Montage and Music and good fighting) but bring it back to how it all started in the first place by making a smaller film about Rocky life now and how he affect the people and world around him and it a fitting farewell to the Champ.
